In a world of rapid technological change and complex career paths, the project “My Skills, My Life” was designed to help students pause and reflect: Who am I? What are my strengths? How do my skills shape my future? Rather than only focusing on academic performance, it encouraged students to connect their personal development with their digital competencies, emotional intelligence, and career awareness. With the help of this project, we aim at reaching the goals of the European Education Area by fostering competent, confident, and socially responsible young Europeans. It promotes self-awareness and personal growth by guiding students to explore their strengths, interests, values, and future aspirations. The project lasted from November 2025 to February 2026. Partners involved: Romania, Turkey and Greece.
The objectives were:
- Fostering essential 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving through engaging, student-centered activities
- Promoting self-awareness and personal growth by guiding students to explore their strengths, interests, values, and future aspirations
- Helping students make connections between their personal skills and their academic or career pathways, encouraging long-term goal settings
- Enhancing digital literacy by incorporating technology into collaborative and reflective tasks in a meaningful way
- Developing intercultural understanding and global citizenship by creating opportunities for students to interact and collaborate with peers from different countries and cultural backgrounds
- Boosting self-confidence and motivation through participation in diverse, hands-on learning experiences that place students at the center of the learning process
- Encouraging active participation in personal learning by promoting autonomy, responsibility, and a sense of ownership in students’ educational journeys
During the project My Skills, My Life, all partner schools came together to guide students in discovering their personal strengths, talents, and future aspirations while developing essential 21st century skills. This interdisciplinary project brought teachers from various subject areas into collaboration, encouraging cross-curricular learning, creativity, and meaningful student engagement.
Through a wide variety of activities – including self-introduction videos, collaborative digital stories, career-themed exhibitions, and creative design tasks – students explored their identities in a supportive, international environment. Using Web 2.0 tools, they discovered and developed their basic skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. They explored their personal strengths, reflected on their future goals, and connected with peers across Europe, they developed digital creativity, communication, and teamwork skills while learning to express themselves confidently and respectfully.

One of the project’s key goals was to shift students from being passive consumers of digital content to active, mindful creators of their own learning journey. They wrote poems and articles, created digital posters and brochures, designed interactive games, and participated in meaningful discussions on topics such as online safety, cyberbullying, and the responsible use of technology. In this way, the project emphasized digital citizenship, personal agency, and social responsibility.
My Skills, My Life also placed great importance on future thinking. Through activities like My Dream Job Gallery and collaborative storytelling (The Journey to My Dream Job), students began to connect their present interests and abilities with future opportunities. They learned how to set goals, recognize their talents, and imagine different career paths. These activities not only promoted career literacy, but also boosted motivation, confidence, and self-awareness.
Students took different roles as artists (created thematic posters), journalists and advertisers (presented themselves, as well as their countries and schools), technicians (used a variety of apps to do the project tasks), scientists (did research on the topics), decision-makers, collaborators (created many products together), change-makers (implemented actions at school, at home and in the community and have become more empathic citizens who can make a difference), as well as evaluators (used feedback tools to offer their own evaluation of the project).
Throughout the project, democratic practices were integrated into the process. Students participated in logo and poster selections, surveys, and international team tasks. Their voices were heard, their choices respected, and their contributions celebrated. This participatory model helped build a sense of ownership and belonging among all participants.
By the end of the project, students developed a deeper understanding of their own identities, their role in the digital world, and the skills needed to shape their future. They learned to appreciate collaboration, reflect on their strengths, and make informed choices – not only in education, but in life.
My Skills, My Life is more than just a school project; it is a personal journey of self- discovery, empowerment, and responsible digital engagement. It taught students that their lives are not defined by grades or algorithms, but by their passions, values, and the courage to dream and act. Through creativity, teamwork, and intercultural dialogue, students learned to believe in their abilities, value diversity, and face future challenges with confidence. My Life, My Skills showed that when young people connect, share, and learn together, education becomes a powerful force that shapes confident individuals and active European citizens ready to build a better future.
