Taking part in the Erasmus+ programme was a valuable experience for me, both professionally and personally. The training course I attended in Barcelona, Spain, gave me the opportunity to discover new teaching methods, exchange ideas with European colleagues and reflect on how I can improve my daily work with students.
For me, Erasmus+ was more than a training opportunity. It was a chance to discover different perspectives on education, learn from others and return to my school with fresh ideas and renewed motivation.
Improving Classroom Management and Promoting Inclusion
In Barcelona, I attended the course “Classroom Management Solutions for Teachers: New Methodologies, Effective Motivation, Cooperation and Evaluation Strategies.” During the training, I explored practical ways to manage classroom activities, motivate students, encourage teamwork and assess learning effectively.
One of the most important lessons I learned was that a successful classroom is not only about delivering knowledge but also about building positive relationships. Students need to feel safe, respected and encouraged to express themselves. I also gained useful ideas about bullying prevention, conflict resolution and meeting the different needs of learners.
As a teacher at School No. 7 in Botoșani, Romania, I intend to apply these strategies in my lessons and create a welcoming environment where students feel confident, support one another and learn from their mistakes. I also want to share my experience with colleagues so that we can exchange ideas and improve our teaching practices together.
Active Citizenship and Improving My English
My Erasmus+ experience helped me better understand the importance of active citizenship and the role of education in developing responsible, open-minded citizens. Working with teachers from different cultural backgrounds reminded me that, although our traditions and educational systems may differ, we share common values and goals.
I became more aware of the importance of respect, tolerance, equality, solidarity and responsibility. I want to encourage my students to appreciate cultural diversity, respect different opinions and understand that everyone can contribute to making their community a better place.
Communicating in English was another important part of my experience. Interacting with international colleagues helped me practise the language in real situations and become more confident when expressing my ideas. I improved my communication skills, expanded my professional vocabulary and gained greater confidence in participating in discussions. This experience also motivated me to continue improving my English and take advantage of future international learning opportunities.
Building Connections with European Schools
One of the most rewarding aspects of the programme was meeting teachers from Italy, Spain, Poland, Greece and Hungary. Although we came from different countries and educational systems, we shared the same desire to improve education and help our students succeed.
Exchanging experiences showed me how valuable international cooperation can be. An idea that works well in one classroom can inspire a new activity or approach in another school. I would therefore like to maintain these professional relationships, exchange educational resources and explore opportunities for future European projects.
Developing a network of schools would allow teachers to share good practices, learn from one another and create new opportunities for students. I believe these connections can strengthen intercultural understanding and contribute to a more inclusive and innovative European educational community.
Sharing My Experience at School
After returning home, I am motivated to put what I have learned into practice and share it with my colleagues. I intend to use the new strategies in my lessons, discuss useful teaching methods and encourage other teachers to participate in European professional development opportunities.
My experience also supports the objectives of School No. 7 in Botoșani, which holds Erasmus+ accreditation for the 2024–2027 period. I want to contribute to our school’s development by promoting inclusive education, student motivation, innovative teaching methods and international cooperation.
For me, sharing the results of the training is just as important as attending the course. The knowledge I gained becomes more valuable when I apply it in the classroom and pass it on to others. Even small changes in my teaching can have a positive impact on students’ confidence, participation and learning.
Conclusion
Looking back on my Erasmus+ experience in Barcelona, I feel grateful for the knowledge I gained, the colleagues I met and the new perspectives I discovered. I returned with practical ideas for improving classroom management, greater confidence in using English and a stronger desire to develop professional connections across Europe.
Most importantly, this experience reminded me that being a teacher means continuing to learn and grow. I am determined to use what I have learned to create a positive classroom environment, encourage respect and cooperation, and support my students’ personal and academic development.
For me, the true value of Erasmus+ lies not only in the experience itself but also in the positive changes I can bring to my classroom and school community.
