Digital Innovation in the Classroom: Lessons from the Erasmus+ Course in Porto

At the end of June 2025, I had the privilege to take part in the Erasmus+ training course “Future Classroom: Apps for Education” in Porto, Portugal. The program was organized under the Erasmus+ 2024 framework (Project Reference: KA1-SCH-ADU-VET-2024/42656a9), within the strand Learning Mobility of Individuals – School Education, Adult Education and Vocational Education and Training.

A Transformative Learning Experience

The course provided valuable insights into how modern digital tools can reshape today’s classrooms. During the training, I explored innovative applications such as Padlet, GAMA, CapCut, Mizou, and Efuiade. These tools open up new possibilities for teaching, from interactive presentations to collaborative spaces that foster creativity, participation, and critical thinking among students.

Collaboration Across Borders

What made the experience even more meaningful was the opportunity to collaborate with fellow teachers from across the European Union, including colleagues from Croatia and Poland. Exchanging ideas about different educational systems and classroom practices enriched the discussions and offered me fresh perspectives that I can bring back to my own work.
The sessions themselves were engaging, interactive, and expertly guided by passionate trainers. I particularly appreciated the balance between theory and hands-on practice, as well as the supportive atmosphere created through teamwork and international cooperation.

Skills for the Classroom of Tomorrow

Among the key skills I acquired during this course are:

  • Competence in accessing and effectively using a range of educational apps.
  • The ability to design multimedia content and interactive learning activities.
  • Strategies for integrating digital tools into lessons in order to increase student engagement.
  • Confidence in applying technology to support creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Beyond the Classroom: Discovering Porto

This Erasmus+ mobility was not only about professional growth but also about cultural exchange. Exploring the beautiful city of Porto with the international group made the experience unforgettable. From discovering historic landmarks to sharing cultural moments, the program fostered friendships and connections that go beyond national borders.

Looking Ahead

Participating in this Erasmus+ course has strengthened my digital competencies and inspired me to be a more innovative and reflective educator. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and I look forward to engaging in future Erasmus+ projects.
Erasmus+ is much more than training—it is a bridge connecting people, ideas, and cultures, and a powerful step toward building the future of education in Europe.
