Between February 2026 and June 2026, students and teachers from Romania, Turkey, and Portugal collaborated in the international eTwinning project „Goodbye Bullying, Hello Kindness” — an educational initiative dedicated to promoting empathy, inclusion, digital citizenship, and positive peer relationships in schools.
In today’s educational context, where students face increasing social and emotional challenges, the project aimed to transform the school climate from a culture of conflict into one of peer kindness. Through meaningful collaboration and creative activities, participants learned that kindness is not only a personal value, but also a powerful tool for building safer and happier school communities.
The primary objective of the project was to encourage students to replace negative behaviours with positive social interactions and intentional acts of kindness. At the same time, the activities focused on developing empathy and emotional intelligence by helping students better understand their own emotions and respect the feelings and perspectives of others.
Another important dimension of the project was digital citizenship. Students explored the concept of „Cyber-Kindness” and learned how to communicate respectfully online, prevent cyberbullying, and use digital platforms responsibly and safely. Through collaborative tasks involving Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 tools, participants also strengthened their ICT literacy and creativity.
The project included a rich variety of interdisciplinary and interactive activities. Students introduced themselves through Padlet presentations and avatars, designed project logos, participated in Kahoot! games, created acrostic poems and mind maps, and worked together in international mixed-school teams. Virtual exhibitions, online meetings, digital books, brochures, bookmarks, and eSafety activities encouraged collaboration and intercultural dialogue throughout the project.
One of the most valuable aspects of the initiative was the opportunity for students to connect with peers from different countries and cultures. These international interactions helped them discover that kindness is a universal language — one capable of overcoming barriers and creating meaningful friendships.
The results of the project extended far beyond the creation of digital products. By the end of the activities, students demonstrated increased empathy, self-confidence, and communication skills, while schools benefited from a more peaceful and inclusive atmosphere. The project also produced valuable educational resources, including a collaborative e-book of „Friendly Games”, a digital exhibition, and an international friendship video that captured the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect developed throughout the partnership.
„Goodbye Bullying, Hello Kindness” proved that education grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect can inspire meaningful, lasting change in school communities. The project stands as a compelling example of how eTwinning partnerships can empower students to become active promoters of kindness — both in real life and in the digital world.
